Same Difference

That’s Julius under there…

…he was my little accounting assistant yesterday.

I’m trying to get all my tax stuff done now, because things are about to get super crazy – all the way through April!!!

Thank goodness for takeout…

IMG_7412

…and 50% off deals

IMG_7415

Decided to build my own sammie

IMG_7417

Purposefully left off the mayo/dressing, because the last time I ordered this, things got ugly

IMG_7420

Looked promising…

IMG_7430

…ultimately, this hoagie needed salt. LOTS of it.

IMG_7440

Even without the slick stuff, things slipped out! This is the last time I’ll order a sub from It’s All About the Bread; I really enjoy their grinders, though.

IMG_7441

Am I alone in thinking that “grinders” and “heroes” are warmed? I actually really don’t know the difference between subs/hoagies/heroes/etc…

And even though I’ve been told a zillion times, I still can’t remember what’s a yam and what’s a sweet potato. But whatever was inside the Hubig’s I had for dessert rocked.

Those, I know, are grapes. (Hello, stem!)

What would you call the sandwich I ate last night?

  1. Haha…Baxter spends a lot of time under the covers too…we even have a song about it :-)

  2. All sandwiches are yummy in my opinion : )

  3. Hmm I see the grapes again. I ate them today. I was planning on doing that yesterday, but things got a little hectic around here..Anyways it tasted amazing. I think I found my new favorite fruitsnack. You didn’t lie about the fact they are delicious. That Hubig thing looks amazing too by the way. I just don’t think they have it around here. Isn’t it possible to make it yourself? I wish I lived in the states…

  4. It’s a hoagie. Calling it anything else would be sacrilegious here in Philly.

  5. Ow before I forget, let me help you to explain the difference between a yam and a sweet potato. Yams becomes quit dry after cooking and is less sweet than the sweet potato. And the flesh is white if I’m correct. Sweet potatoes however are more sweet and more colorful. The skin is orange and red, although there are more colors. Real yams are difficult to get, so there is a bigger chance you eat a sweet potato than a yam. And if I look at that delicious looking Hubig I am almost sure it’s filled with sweet potato :) Maybe not such important information, but I felt like sharing :P haha

  6. I always forget which is which as well, and I just bought some sweet potatoes today (thinking they were yams)!

Here is a video clip with pictures and an in depth explanation about the difference:

  7. Isn’t your hubby from Philly? Would he know the difference between a hoagie and a subbie if he’d seen one? I have no idea as a native angelina.

  8. I would call that a sub or just a plain ol’ sandwich. I lived in Massachusetts very briefly and never did become hip to the lingo, so in my head, a hoagie or grinder is just a sammie on the East Coast. :)

  9. In Maine, where I grew up, those are called bombers, or straight up Italian Sandwiches :)

  10. I’d call it a sub
